The gate was built to provide an identity to the property and to further identify St. Norbert as a place of special importance to Manitobans and Canadians. 
It has provided a place where the St. Norbert story can be told. It is also a place where lively activities such as the St. Norbert Farmers’ Market and a community garden can exist. The X Kalay building remains a backdrop to the property.
